Some Asus mesh routers experience instability issues.
Hi There, I’ve assisted my boss with installing a home Wi‑Fi setup for his apartment. It’s a large 4,000 sq ft space with an unusual L-shape layout and thick cement walls between rooms. He has three Asus RT-AC86U routers arranged in a mesh network—one in the center and two on the sides. There are around 40 devices scattered throughout: iPhones, iPads, laptops, IP cameras, Alexa gadgets, and more. Most of them use Wi‑Fi, but the connection often drops intermittently. Sometimes one mesh node fails, other times the whole network goes down, requiring a full reset to restore service. I’ve tried everything possible to help him troubleshoot. The signal strength is generally good, though it fluctuates. He’s becoming increasingly frustrated because he has to reset his routers every couple of days. Any suggestions or ideas?
Consider alternatives like Ethernet APs instead of mesh solutions.
