I primarily rely on my computer for creating 3D visuals using Daz. Recently, I switched from an EVGA GTX 670 to a Gigabyte RTX 2060 Super, and I’ve seen a noticeable improvement. Still, when dealing with intricate scenes or several characters, my machine becomes extremely slow during the preview window. I can finish renders that take hours, usually leaving it running quietly while I sleep. This level of delay makes positioning and editing in the scene very frustrating, and I suspect there might be a bottleneck somewhere.

I don’t have the same financial means as Linus, so I’m seeking guidance on which upgrades would be most beneficial to address this lag. My current setup is still within the return period for the RTX 2060 Super, but I feel it’s not reaching its full capacity. I’m currently running it with 16GB of Corsair DDR4 at 2666MHz and an Intel i5-8400 @ 2.8GHz.

In short: My system struggles significantly with complex visuals in the NVIDIA IRAY viewer within Daz 3D. It runs smoothly without it, though I often need to preview first. I’m trying to decide whether to upgrade further or consider a better graphics card next.

System details: Motherboard – Asus Strix z370-i, CPU – Intel i5 8400 @ 2.8GHz (not overclocked), Storage – Samsung 970 Evo Plus NVMe, RAM – 16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 @2666MHz.
