(SOLVED!) Poor GPU performance and stuttering (frame times)
I purchased an rx 570 and am facing terrible frame rates with an i5 4590. It's a fresh Windows installation. When I started playing Hitman 2, the first mission ran smoothly at ultra around 70-100 fps. However, after switching to the Miami mission—which has many NPCs—I saw my FPS drop to 38-45 and the frame times became extremely poor, making it unplayable. The same happened with Battlefield 5. Singleplayer was stable at 60 fps in ultra, but multiplayer caused inconsistent FPS and frame rates. Initially, I thought my CPU was limiting performance, but I noticed others playing on Ryzen 3 1200 with a 1050 Ti running smoothly with consistent frame times. Anyone else encountering this issue? My RAM is 3x4 12GB, and GPU usage decreases during these stutters.
so uhh.. i logged in while playing bf5 and the gpu utilization looked like this. i was using dx12 with 45-60 fps, but it was barely playable. in dx11 it’s just not playable at all, and i can’t even hear the audio. anyway, everything else seemed normal—cpu clocks, temps, cpu usage were 98-100 percent, voltages were fine, and the gpu core clock was okay too. the gpu vram usage was showing 11gb, but it’s actually showing 8gb on windows idle now.
