Solution tailored for Steam Remote Play via PC or alternative platform
Due to our setup we use a family PC with a graphics card. The main concern is streaming games from my TV/Home Theater, which are on separate floors and need to stay that way. I’m looking for a dedicated Steam remote play device that works well on the same network, with minimal lag for solo or adventure-style games. Ideally it should be portable enough for me to move around, but remain stationary when it comes to being the central play station. Are there affordable options like a NUC or Shield that suit this purpose?
Nvidia Shield TV Pro (2019) could also fit several other home theatre systems. I prefer mine. Streaming via Steam Link on my setup, Direct Play for Plex content alongside AVR and TV, quick access to streaming platforms—great overall. The only drawback is the cost.
You're wondering about the necessity of a special device—TVs can handle it, but other options are fine too. A Raspberry Pi could be useful in certain cases.
