I experience issues on my desktop when downloading at speeds over 50MB/s. The whole system stutters, making mouse movement difficult and triggering a "beep, beep" sound from the speaker during certain actions. This suggests a possible problem with system input/output handling. It seems to occur specifically during downloads via Chrome, Steam, BitTorrent, or similar services—not due to software conflicts. The issue doesn’t appear when downloading from a slow connection or transferring files over LAN SMB, which can handle higher speeds smoothly. Temperatures remain normal, and CPU usage stays around 30% at the moment of stuttering. No antivirus or Windows Defender was used, and no driver updates were made. Other devices in my home don’t have this problem, even though they use wireless instead of wired connections. The only thoughts that come to mind are that file indexing might be active and attempting to monitor your downloads and writes. Have you verified that indexing is disabled or set to standard rather than enhanced? On Windows 11, enhanced mode tries to index everything, which could lead to indexing as files are downloaded. Your download speed is good, but you could test different thresholds—like 40MB per second—and see where performance peaks before lag appears. It might help to identify the optimal balance between speed and stability. This isn’t a perfect fix, but it’s something you could try if you can’t pinpoint the problem right now.
