I used Daemon tools previously, but I’m unsure whether it was a trial or a limited version. It didn’t work well for imaging the disc I wanted to create. My goal is to generate an image on my desktop or another location on my hard drive, and also be able to read that file. I need a solution that meets both requirements. I’m mainly looking for free options, but if necessary, I’m open to buying a license.

I work with ImgBurn to write images onto discs or generate images from them. I rely on .img or .iso files for burning discs, which can switch formats depending on the source. Virtual Clone Drive lets me treat ISO or IMG files like discs even though they're stored on my HDD. Both tools are free.

I didn’t use ImgBurn recently and haven’t tried the Virtual Clone Drive yet. I’m considering its reliability before installing anything.

I looked into it and found some promising results. The splash screen appears to offer play and update choices, but once you click play, the system doesn't treat the ISO as a valid disc. In the VCD settings, there are no visible options to fix this. Could try using a different ISO file or checking if the game supports direct installation without splash.

I recommend using PowerISO—it's completely free and has never caused any issues for me. Just right-click the .iso file and select mount it to a virtual drive like A or F.

It could be searching for a specific drive letter (like DSmile that seems irrelevant but might exist. Try searching online for the issue and check if others mention a matching problem such as "game doesn't see CD even though inserted."
