I need a small camera for my apartment to watch the door. It should only record when someone moves. I’m not sure what software options exist, but I have a server that could be connected or wireless. I’m looking for someone familiar with these setups—maybe someone who can set up an alert to notify me when movement is detected. I haven’t bought the camera yet; I’m not sure if a specific model is necessary or if a webcam would work.

These cameras are likely from brands like Axis or Dink.

You can purchase ready-made containers that meet your needs (they light up slightly when moved). My dad bought one for around £30. You’ll need a storage device like an HDD or SSD, and it functions well. (You must also supply the camera.)

Test Ivideon—it's complimentary and works with regular webcams, eliminating the need for dedicated IP cameras. If you prefer a paid option, consider Foscam.

I'll take a look at these; I'm trying the software first since I have a webcam.
