Everything mentioned works well, and Sony Vegas also performs nicely in audio.
Adobe Audition is also a great audio editing tool. I've tried both Pro Tools and Audition CS6 (which is also Audacity), and I notice Pro Tools shines for mixing bands into tracks, while Audition excels at noise removal for films. Its compatibility with other Creative Cloud apps like After Effects and Premiere Pro might be another reason to choose Audition over Pro Tools.
