I rely on Webroot and Malwarebytes. Webroot performed best for gaming and other tasks, with minimal interference. It did well in virus scans. I appreciated its clean design and lack of unnecessary features.

I’m choosing Avast because of my positive past experiences. It’s fairly light on resources, and it offers a simple feature to disable all pop-up alerts and sounds found in other antivirus programs. Plus, it’s available for free indefinitely.

many users prefer malwarebytes and avg over avg, it works just fine. i personally favor the avg layout more. all three are completely free. ^^^

Expect that reliable software updates and drivers might carry viruses... Being intelligent won’t prevent them completely. You probably won’t even notice you have an infection once it arrives.
