I have significant power issues at home and often lose connectivity during crucial meetings. I need a reliable fix that keeps me connected without interruptions. I’m considering using USB tethering from my phone while it stays plugged into the laptop and connected to WiFi. This way, if power drops, the laptop would automatically switch to the phone connection. Is this a viable solution? Will it work smoothly without breaking my meetings? If not, what alternatives should I explore?

If the outages aren't too severe, consider upgrading your router or modem.

This seems like a solid option since your power can recharge your phone while you're on the ups, especially if the outages aren't too frequent. The alternative would be to keep your phone connected via hotspot throughout the meeting.

Thanks for the response. This won't solve my issue since my ISP's servers are inside my building. If the power goes out, those servers shut down too, leaving me with just a router that's on but without internet access.

If a USB isn’t available, connect your phone directly to the laptop and adjust the Wi-Fi settings to prioritize it over the USB connection.

It seems this process isn't going to be smooth as you expect. The meeting probably relies on a stable link. If the standard path fails, the connection will break and you'll lose access.
