except you wouldnt see if something is melted inside the PSU or GPU… I mean, i dont quite get it tbh, cant you just actually smell the two parts in question… if something melted that smell should still be present -- the only thing anyone can really tell you here is *do not turn on the PC again and also unplug it from power* this is actually serious… So if you cant smell anything now for whatever reason Id suggest to RMA the GPU, and maybe the PSU too. still anything above 40c idle is hot imo… did you set it to "prefer maximum performance"? otherwise you can also lock to frequency with afterburner… i wouldnt recommend either, there are no real benefits to be had (tested it)
I mentioned earlier it was a driver issue—it would idle at base core. While I ran DDU, reinstalled the driver, and it worked again. However, the temperature stayed high because my card used zero fan mode when idle; it actually fell below 40°C, I turned the fans off, then brought it back up to 47°C, and it didn’t restart until around 65°C. That’s acceptable since it gradually climbed to 73°C during Folding at Home. My 2080 has a custom fan profile—it’s a blower cooler, so it gets very hot under load, which they tuned for noise rather than performance. I didn’t change settings on the 3080, sticking to factory defaults. I only have Afterburner enabled for stats.
Ah, ok, yeah i know its a bug, but only happens for me when i enable "max performance". My fan is also off btw (seen in screenshot) but yeah everything around 40 is pretty normal i guess (i have 2 noctua front intakes that probably helps… it doesnt go over 36c or so even when watching yt, etc, games usually around 60c, "some" it goes to 70… but i set my gpu fans to start at ~45c definitely helps keeping it cool while gaming)
I have two Noctua 140mm intakes on a Be Quiet 500DX. Your setup might be slightly behind yours, or your case filter needs cleaning again. I aimed for the ASUS ROG Strix 3080 so the bottom fan could be controlled by the GPU, but due to card availability and price, I chose a Palit GamingPro and relied on higher CPU load during gaming to push fans up. At Folding at Home, the CPU usage is minimal, which likely means the real issue is GPU temperatures.
