I completely understand your perspective — but gambling is viewed as a game and entertainment by some individuals. Of course, it should be approached with care. I bought CoD WW2 when it launched for around €60, and likely spent another €50-60 on in-game currency (which unlocks loot boxes and specific challenges). I don’t feel misled at all; I genuinely enjoy a bit of gambling here and there. I stopped when I either earned or purchased most of the content, so I just get repetitive. Also, you receive loot boxes during gameplay, making it mainly something you engage with early on. Gambling is similar to alcohol, drugs, and attractive women — when done responsibly, it can be enjoyable. However, if it becomes part of a game that many children play (which they shouldn’t officially) it opens up another debate altogether. In short — I have no issue with such a system at all.
