I've faced slow and choppy performance with Adobe tools like Photoshop and InDesign since building my PC. At first, I assumed the hardware was fine—my system had a solid i7 8700k, 16GB RAM, and a GTX 1070 that later upgraded to RTX 3070. Even after installing the studio graphics drivers, nothing improved. Once I switched to a mid-range work PC (i5-11400, 16GB RAM, GTX 1650), things started to change. At home, Affinity Publisher ran smoothly, which made me feel better. But when I tried editing a document on my high-end machine, lag appeared—mouse movements stuttered and the cursor jittered. I even tried the studio drivers without success. Now I’m questioning whether the problem lies with Adobe software or if my PC has an underlying issue. Games work fine, so I’m curious if XMP settings could help. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I’d really like to get more out of my current setup but the performance is too frustrating.

I faced comparable problems when memory ran low, possibly due to an SSD being full.

It works actually—just switch it off and check. Also, you mentioned another PC, right? You’re probably a bit confused about that.

I'll disable XMP and see how it goes. My top-tier PC is the main one—equipped with an 8700k processor, and I own two additional systems.

It seems like you're hoping for a resolution to a RAM problem, but it's currently low or mid-range quality. This might help in the future. Good luck!

So I found the issue.... My PC has been like this as long as I can remember, remaining even after hardware upgrades... but I've never found a fix. I just tried to do a screen recording to capture the stuttering issues, but when I review the video... there is no stutter at all... And sometimes when the stutter happens, a group of pixels on my monitor flash too.... It's my fking monitor this entire time... This is annoying... because I RMA'd my monitor for the pixel issue but they said it was fine and returned it years ago... Why would this only happen in design applications? It doesn't happen in games... Actually scratch that, It's only happened in WoW now and then. But it always happens in Photoshop and other design software.

Through further testing, the problem appears when a design tool remains open and responsive on the display, especially when motion occurs in the upper-left corner (pixels flash in a pattern). Adjusting G-Sync resolves the issue...
