In any case, my internet connection is lagging after the Windows 10 upgrade. I expected around 1 megabyte per second (10mbps), but I’m only managing double digits in kilobits. Could this be related to the drivers? The Wi-Fi is functioning properly, and using a USB-connected phone showed normal speeds. My motherboard model is Lenovo Mahobay 0b98401 pro.

It might depend on what’s happening. I’d look for an updated driver for your Ethernet adapter. There’s also a chance the speed test was running in the background or someone else was using the network. Make sure no one else is online and that Windows is fully updated with the latest drivers installed. If you haven’t checked your Ethernet cable or connection beforehand, it could be a hardware issue. Without testing first, it’s tough to confirm if the problem is software or hardware related.

Hardware doubts likely stem from testing this PC before bringing it home. The problem began after a fresh Windows install. Could the issue be due to incorrect network drivers on Windows 10? When checking Device Manager, does it display the correct network adapter you need to download drivers for?

Visit the support section for your motherboard and download the necessary drivers. Let me know if you'd like assistance locating them.

Is it a device that was once part of an office network and might have 'blockers' on its RJ45 port—requiring removal or deactivation—to be identified as not belonging to the corporate network it was originally deployed for? Windows can't load incorrect drivers; if it doesn't locate the proper one, it either won't install anything or defaults to a generic, non-specific setting.

CPU Z indicates Lenovo Mahobay 0b98401 Pro, which seems odd at first glance.

Are you checking if the correct network card appears in Device Manager so you can find the right drivers?

It might refer to "ms basic ethernet adaptor" or "microsoft basic ethernet adaptor."

If you only have the board information, it was taken from a ThinkCentre SFF machine and might be tailored for a specific configuration. Adjusting the hardware could cause compatibility issues. Use the provided link to check the BIOS details and obtain the correct drivers. Windows will install generic MS drivers, not custom ones for the specific hardware.
