Hi everyone, I'm using an ASUS RT-AC55UHP router connected to my TP-Link T6e Archer. After updating the router's firmware for security fixes, my Steam download speed dropped significantly—from 13Mb/s to just 4Mb/s. I've tried switching channels but haven't found a solution. My gaming ping remains unaffected. I used to have this issue before, but it improved when I switched to channel 48, though now it's not working again. I'm hoping someone can suggest ways to boost my internet speed. I'm okay disabling some security features since I don't store personal data on my computer. Any advice would be really appreciated! Thanks.

I believe you're referring to the same thing, just looking at it through different measurements. The distinction lies in MB/s versus Mb/s bits, and bytes are distinct from bits. Make sure to update the download speed settings in Steam.

Can you revert to the prior release to verify functionality? Was Quality of Service activated following the firmware update?

The system doesn't support enabling Qos, and I can't revert the firmware.

QOS remains disabled for port forwarding, I haven’t made any changes. UPnP is active. The WD Black 1TB hard drive should support this setup.

Reset the device and attempt to restore settings. Use a tool like the WiFi Analyzer app on your phone to identify available channels in the 5 GHz range. Choose an open channel for better connectivity.

I performed a factory reset. The download speed is now much improved, though it's limited to around 8MB per file. I also found an open space channel that remains unchanged.

It seems confusing why the system keeps showing your connection as 802.11n. Both your router and your Wi-Fi card should support AC, so check the settings or configuration to ensure it's correctly set.
