Slow startup on Ryzen 7000 processors
Slow startup on Ryzen 7000 processors
I understand this might have been covered before. I’ve been researching online but haven’t found concrete fixes. Today I assembled a brand new PC and it’s running smoothly—set up Red Hat Hyper-V VMs, played games, etc. Here are the specs. But booting takes over 30 seconds. It feels sluggish compared to my 3700x. After changing only two things in UEFI (RAM size to 6000 and disabling iGPU), it still doesn’t speed up. The latest UEFI version was installed, yet nothing improved. If anyone has tips or adjustments that work, please share. Thanks!
Improvement noticed in performance—down from about 50 seconds a year ago to roughly 30 seconds now. (without memory training) Some B650 models can handle the login button press in 12-15 seconds, though I haven’t seen an X670 system with that capability yet. Based on what I’ve heard, the second chipset seems to slow down initialization, which might explain the longer times. My B550/5800x runs around 12 seconds from pressing the button to the login screen. The fix appears to be reducing shutdowns and startups, and sleep mode is now functioning much better—unlike during launch when it was completely disabled.
Thanks for the update. It looks like you might need to wait until the computer starts up before grabbing your coffee.
