I've experienced frequent internet difficulties over the last couple of months, mainly due to bandwidth constraints. With lots of streaming happening on our TV and my parents using Netflix or Amazon, I've noticed complete loss of internet during those times even though I remain connected. It seems the issue might be related to distance from the router. Since they're not open to a change, setting up a wired connection isn't an option for me right now.

They’re not in a position to make changes. It’s probable that most SOHO routers have QOS features active, focusing streaming services like Hulu or Netflix above other data, which might explain the issue. There’s nothing you can do if your parents won’t adjust beyond securing employment and setting up your own connection.
