Hey there I currently experience slow and unstable file transfer rate between my MBP15,2 (2018) and my Synology NAS (DS1821+) over SMB. I don't experience the same issue using other computers on my (W)LAN (see below). I already experienced the same problem with my former laptop (MBP11,1 late 2013) and my former NAS (DS1815+) while other computers on the (W)LAN worked normally . I googled my issue and followed the steps described here . Well, the only change I actually had to make was to enable Opportunistic Locking (I also enabled SMB2 lease , hoping it wouldn't hurt). I already had SMB3 as max SMB protocol and SMB2 as min SMB protocol. Transport Encryption Mode was also already disabled. After this change, I tried my former MBP (2013) on the current NAS (DS1821+) and - at least for a few tests - I didn't experience the same slow transfer rate while the 2018 MBP still does. I run my tests by transferring a single 6GB rar file (I have approximately the same results when transferring the uncompressed files instead). I don't know what should be the theoretical max speed (transfer rate) I should get with my hardware, but since all computers on my WLAN - except the MBP - get approximately the same speed, I guess I'll consider this one as "normal"/"expected". (AFAIU Wifi5 should give me around 100MBps but that's not reachable IRL, right?) Hardware - Results: - Router : Wifi5 (ac), dual- band 2.4 GHz & 5 GHz, MIMO 4X4 (Thus newer wifi clients won't be supported at full speed). - NAS: Synology DS1821+, connected to the router via GbE. - Win10 PC over GbE : 112MBps (connected to the router) - Win10 PC over Wifi (2x2 Wifi6 (ax) Intel Wifi6 AX200) : 20-30MBps (sustained peaks @~50MBps) - iMac17,1 (late 2015) over Wifi (Wifi5 (ac) ref?) : 20-30MBps (peaks @~50MBps) (running macOS 12.3.1) - MBP11,1 (late 2013) over Wifi (Wifi5 (ac) ref?) : mostly 20MBps with a few drops around 5MBps - MBP15,2 (2018) over Wifi (Wifi5 (ac) ref?) : 2-3MBps with occasional brief peaks @~10MBps and frequent sustained drops in the KBps range . Can you please help me troubleshoot this and get better transfer rates on my 2018 MBP? Thank you very much in advance for your help. Best, -a-
