Slow and unreliable performance on Linksys 2.4GHz devices
Hello, I recently acquired a second-hand Linksys AC1200 (EA6200-2014) to pair with my ISP router. I set it up using a static IP and disabled DHCP through the LAN connection, along with my 5GHz network. Everything functions smoothly, achieving up to 350mbps download speeds. However, on the 2.4GHz band, I’m experiencing 1-5mbps download and 20-25mbps upload, which is significantly lower than expected—around 1-2m from the router. I’ve tried standard fixes like updating firmware, changing channels, and adjusting settings, but nothing changes. There don’t seem to be nearby interference sources, and other wireless networks are minimal. On my ISP router, I consistently see 30-40mbps at 2.4GHz even at 4 meters away. This behavior was confirmed on my laptop and two Android phones. Could this indicate a hardware issue? Please advise or let me know if further troubleshooting is needed. Best regards.
I evaluated the situation by considering the available network configurations and potential interference sources. I checked whether a wireless survey was conducted on the 2.4GHz band at your site and whether both ISP and Linksys access points were operating simultaneously. I also verified if the Linksys router was set to bridge mode during that period.
