I have two monitors—a Philips 60Hz IPS and a non-GSYNC AOC TN with a 144Hz custom resolution. I’ve set up a 1ms jobbie. The exact model numbers aren’t remembered. I use the AOC and disabled VSync, yet there’s no screen tearing at all. In fact, I haven’t seen any tearing in any games on the AOC. The higher refresh rate probably makes it hard to spot any issues. The IPS tends to tear everywhere, but that’s normal since my graphics output is 80-120 fps, which is causing noticeable tearing in previous titles. I can’t comment on G-Sync or Nvidia features because I haven’t used them. What I can say is I don’t notice any tearing on the AOC and the 100+ Hz display quality is excellent. The colors on the TN panel look much better now compared to the default settings.
I'll set up the new 970 tonight and share my findings when 1440p runs are available. Appreciate the help!
I understand g-sync as a great capability, but achieving close to 144hz at 1440p usually requires dual monitors with 970s or 980s. My issue is that my current displays still fall short, and I really like the appearance of an ips 1440p, even if it means compromising on refresh rate—most games with a 780iS only give me about 80hz anyway.
