It looks like your second GTX 970 isn't performing well in BF1. Try checking your settings, ensure you have the latest drivers, and verify your graphics card is properly connected and recognized. If issues persist, consider updating your game or consulting community forums for troubleshooting.

Open the desktop right-click, go to the Nvidia Control panel, verify SLI is turned on for maximum performance.

SLI issues are common, but keep things current. Make sure drivers and configurations match exactly. Settings need fine-tuning because multi-GPU setups bring inherent complexity. Most likely, 3 or 4-way SLI won't be supported anymore, and even 2-way setups may face limited support from manufacturers. It's a balancing act with NVidia and developers.

DX12 has turned off SLI, so make sure you're using DX11. EA doesn't officially back SLI, which means if it fails, you won't be surprised by their response. It's better to have one top-tier card than two mid-range ones, since not all games support SLI.

It's not limited to a single reason. I recommend exploring DX12 and its support for multiple GPUs. If the team isn't building for that, it probably won't function.
