I noticed many options for it, but I'm struggling to get everyone on Skype to switch to Trillian.
Well, they don't need to exchange, exchanging Trillian with me is similar to changing from IE 11 to Waterfox for browsing the web and checking forums—you keep the same login info as with any other browser, just enjoy a different look and feel (and some performance benefits) compared to the other tool. I rely on Trillian to handle multiple MSN Messenger accounts, Y!M accounts, AIM, ICQ, IRC, and Skype all under one platform, with minimal setup challenges.
Trillian functions mainly as a client for Skype, Live, AIM, etc., but it also offers its own chat service that isn’t widely used. People typically rely on Skype or AIM, though they occasionally use Trillian. Friends don’t require a Trillian account—they simply use Skype as usual.
