Build details: Intel Core i7-10700k Gigabyte Aorus Pro AX Z490 mobo 64gb RAM (Corsair LPX Vengeance, 4x16gb) 1tb samsung NVME SSD 2tb WD HDD Nvidia GTX 1080 GPU 750W PSU I don't have any custom overclocks on the CPU, the only setting I've ever changed is the XMP profile on the ram. Default is 2133mHz, and XMP took it to the sticker value of 3200mHz. Setup has been working beautifully since I built it just over a year ago. Suddenly when I went to turn it on this morning (a cold start, if you will) I had a boot failure. No display at all, just nothing. Waited a while and eventually it displayed a BIOS message saying it failed to boot and if I wanted to reset to default settings and reboot. I did and it booted just fine. It reset me to the default RAM speed (again, the only setting I ever changed...) and has been stable since. Does this error sound familiar and should I be worried? Or is it a symptom of a greater hardware failure that could be on it's way? I had some GPU issues though later on, a game crashed mid way through and I needed to update the drivers, which were over a year overdue. Latest install was from June of last year. Not sure how that could have affected it but you never know...
i wouldn't be concerned unless it turns into a regular problem. regarding the gpu, it might not be linked since the drivers were outdated, and i wouldn't be too worried unless it repeats.
