Simplify your shift from Mac OS to Windows.
She’s used to Mac OS and struggles with other operating systems because she doesn’t understand them. I’m trying to help her adapt by building a budget-friendly PC. Since Linux isn’t an option due to her need for Microsoft Office, I’m looking for ways to make Windows feel more Mac-like. How can I adjust the Windows experience to resemble Mac better? Are there comparisons or side-by-side lists of Mac shortcuts versus Windows ones? I’d also like tips to hide or disable shortcuts she finds annoying. Thanks! ~DKL~ Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
You can apply skins to give Windows a look similar to MAC OS. RainMeter might help with this, and AutoHotkey could also adjust shortcuts to achieve the same effect—this tool truly handles everything.
I’ll just send her a refurbished MacBook or Mac Mini. No need to upgrade. If you do, stick with Windows 7 and keep things simple. Get used to the standard Windows setup.
Understood. The pricing isn't sufficient for her limited budget of $300. We also talked about why she prefers Macs mainly for their support and dependability. Using older Macs would mean losing both reliability and the ability to fix parts on her own. For her specific requirements, as mentioned in the PC Part List section of this project, there aren't any used Macs that match her needs at that price. That doesn't sound like a viable choice. This leads to my original concern. Also, Windows 7 no longer receives support, whereas Windows 10 still does. Switching to Windows 7 wouldn't make sense compared to keeping Windows 10.
Windows 7 remains supported until 2020, which is why so many users continue to rely on it.
