Hey! It sounds like you're seeing some unusual changes on your system. On Debian 11, certain transparency tools and window managers can behave oddly under specific conditions. The black screen effect you described might be related to how your graphics drivers or window manager settings interact with the display. Also, the movement issue when dragging windows could be caused by how the window manager handles borders or layouts. Since you're not finding a clear solution online, it might help to check your graphics driver version, update your window manager if needed, or try restarting your display manager. Let me know if you want more details!

If this were Windows, I'd assume a driver problem. But it's not, so I'm feeling overwhelmed.

I discovered this in a 2012 discussion about Wheezy and XFCE 4.8 Save to conkyrc. It suggests creating your own window instead of using the desktop. The focus was on own_window with specific settings like transparent, sticky, and skipping the taskbar. More details are available in the full thread here: https://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?p=428709

I noticed that too, though it didn’t quite fit. Conky was impacted too, along with other clear panels. Also, Conky seemed to be running normally before, no changes made.
