I reached out to the person about my inability to play games on Epic or Xbox due to Anti-Cheat restrictions. I've completely reorganized my PC six times, and this was my most recent attempt. I only kept Windows, Nvidia, and Xbox installed. I downloaded Sea of Thieves from Microsoft's store. When I attempted to launch it, the system said "Launch Error: Unrecognized game client. Cannot continue." I've tried everything—reformatting, reinstalling, checking updates, contacting support, and even using a clean boot. None resolved the issue. I also consulted Rare, Xbox support, and Windows help, but nothing worked. I followed their advice step by step: selected files, verified, repaired through the game, reset services, cleaned cache, performed a clean install, and even tried an in-place Windows upgrade. Still facing the same error. I noticed the "exe" file is missing from the Easy Anti-Cheat folder. The Xbox representative also suggested a full factory reset, which I did, but the problem persisted. I spent time online with support, who eventually took control and recommended reinstalling Windows, which I did without success.
It's disappointing. Do you need to reinstall the games from the beginning after cleaning your PC, or have you moved the folders elsewhere? How exactly did you clear your system? Are you using the Windows settings to erase everything or are you installing a fresh Windows on a USB drive and resetting the disk?
The 24H2 update continues to have some problems with EAC. This might be contributing to the issues you're experiencing. Certain game developers have moved to a different anti-cheat application, which could have introduced further complications. I am restoring my PC to its original configuration. I will access System - Recovery, select the reset option that clears everything without retaining files, then reinstall everything from a clean state. After that, I visited the Microsoft Store, purchased SoT in 2018, and downloaded it again.
