I enjoy PUBG but sometimes want more intense action. I'm looking for a game with mechanics similar to PUBG but not a pure battle royale. It should be a bit faster than COD or Battlefield, where you keep dying and restarting, but slower than PUBG where you can walk for hours before getting hit. I also appreciate teamwork in PUBG and would like a good Discord community around it. What games fit this description?
Have you checked out Fortnite? It's an FPS with a team-oriented PVE mode and a PVP BR mode that PUBG attempted to sue them for.
Fortnite is definitely faster than PUBG, mainly because you need to master building tactics to succeed. The game completely shifts the balance when players can demolish your cover and quickly erect barriers before you fire.
