I recently played Battlefield 4 and faced significant FPS drops. My CPU and RAM usage stayed stable, but my GPU performance would consistently drop to near zero. The issue seems to be with the GPU throttling, even though I’m not seeing any hardware limitations. I haven’t installed the latest drivers for AW support and moved the game to a secondary SSD, thinking it shouldn’t impact GPU performance. Could anyone else have encountered similar problems recently?

Not sure if it's connected to the game not launching in X64 mode.

I faced similar issues before, the easiest solution turned out to be straightforward. I opened the Bf4 doc (C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 4) and checked the properties of Bf4 and Bf4_86. In compatibilities, I selected execute as administrator and ran it on both versions. It worked fine for Origin too, and I didn’t notice any FPS drops afterward. Good luck!

I'll attempt this and check if using x64 affects the outcome.

I experienced extreme stuttering after switching my GPU from 660 to a 290x... I reformatted the whole disk and it resolved the issue!

The latest patch seems to have triggered issues. On the BF4 forum I saw that fixing the game and re-downloading the browser plugin resolved the problem.

Just cleaning the old drivers and putting in the new ones would have been enough.

There are issues with the patch, and DICE has acknowledged it. The concern is they only address it in hidden discussions and never publicly. DICE and EA still struggle to accept transparency.

It's about fixing game files. Often after relocating them or reinstalling, they need this to function properly again.
