From the moment I began playing Fortnite, I've consistently encountered significant input lag – a problem absent in other games such as CS:GO, PUBG, and H1Z1. This issue endured across numerous seasons, leading me to suspect a hardware defect. Consequently, I upgraded almost all of my PC’s components – including the case, peripherals, and a new 144Hz monitor – yet this did not alleviate the problem; I still frequently experience a sensation of struggling to move my mouse with ease.

I've dedicated countless hours each day experimenting with various settings, adjustments, and optimizations without success. I’ve even reinstalled Windows several times, but the issue remains persistent. It's now reaching a point where I’m considering abandoning Fortnite due to the substantial expense required simply to achieve acceptable mouse movement smoothness. However, I would appreciate any advice you could offer regarding strategies for eliminating (or lessening) this input lag, enabling me to finally play comfortably and enjoy the game. Please find my system specifications below for your consideration.

Components:
CPU: Ryzen 5 2600 @ 3.4GHz (operating temperatures between 55-60°C during gameplay)
GPU: NVIDIA GTX 1060 6gb (operating temperatures between 73-83°C during gameplay)
Cooler: DeepCool GAMMAX GT
Motherboard: MSI B350M Gaming Pro
Storage: 2 x Samsung 850 Evo 256gb
Memory: ADATA Gammix @ 2993MHz
PSU: SeaSonic Focus Plus Gold 550W
Peripherals:
Monitor: MSI Optix MAG241C @ 144Hz
Mouse: SteelSeries Rival 110
Keyboard: SteelSeries Apex 150
Headset: SteelSeries Siberia V2

- All drivers are updated to the latest versions! -

I've attempted several common input lag solutions, including:
Disabling mouse acceleration
Deactivating the high precision event timer (HPET)
Closing unnecessary background applications
Setting VSync to OFF
Configuring power settings for maximum performance
Extensively adjusting my FPS both with and without caps.

I'm experiencing the identical problem. It’s damaging my Fortnite experience.

I understand your frustration.

@xShud – My performance in online matches is severely hampered by significant delays, particularly at the start of the game and especially during competitive gameplay, despite my frame rate appearing consistent. It’s incredibly disruptive.

P.S.: Please monitor this discussion, and perhaps we can discover a resolution together. Let’s hope so, good luck to us all – haha!

I recently resolved my lag issues by paying $25 for a PC optimization consultation on Twitter. The session lasted approximately 30 minutes, and the consultant thoroughly examined my system settings and made numerous adjustments to improve performance. While I’m uncertain if it will be effective for your situation, I believe it’s certainly a worthwhile endeavor.
