Significant and mysterious drop in FPS
Significant and mysterious drop in FPS
My gaming PC’s performance has drastically declined despite recent upgrades and troubleshooting steps. Initially, a new 144Hz monitor significantly improved my Battlefield 5 FPS (from 40 to 110). However, the next day, FPS plummeted back down. I installed an aftermarket cooler, which successfully lowered GPU temperatures, but further reduced FPS. Despite reinstalling Windows and reverting to performance power settings, issues persist, dropping FPS to around 53 average. My system specs include an i7-6800k CPU, ASRock X99 Extreme4 motherboard, 32GB RAM, GTX 1070, and a Corsair TX 750 PSU. I’ve ruled out monitor issues, display port adapters, and secondary monitors. The problem is baffling, as my gaming laptop with a weaker graphics card achieves higher FPS in the same game. I’m seeking assistance to diagnose this perplexing performance degradation.
I think there was something odd when you first started playing because in my experience a 1070 will not hit 100fps in BFV at 1440p without turning off all effects and setting almost all graphics to low. Were you at ultra? Plus, your cpu is 900mhz slower than mine and cpu speed is key to framerate.
What you’re getting sounds right if you are on ultra.
