I own two monitors: a 1080p 144Hz model and a Dell 1909W with a 1440x900 resolution. I connected the latter to an HDMI adapter via VGA. I’ve been using this older monitor mainly for Discord, Spotify, YouTube, etc. My GTX 1070 has worked fine for over a year. Recently, I upgraded to a ZOTAC GeForce RTX 3060 12GB, which only has one HDMI port and the rest are DisplayPort. To bridge the gap, I used a VGA to DisplayPort adapter. Unfortunately, my monitor stopped working and now only shows 1280x1024p even at its full resolution. I’ve checked all ports, updated drivers, and cables, but the issue persists when exceeding 1280x1024p. Could you assist? Thank you!

Use the DVI-D connection on your Dell screen linked to a DP-to-DVI-D adapter or cable

This often happens because the adapter isn't accurately sending your monitor's resolution to Windows. When the built-in resolution isn't found in Windows, the best option is usually switching to a different adapter. I previously used DP to VGA cables without any problems.
