Shuttering delay in Grand Theft Auto V
Shuttering delay in Grand Theft Auto V
Hi. I just got Grand Theft Auto and my computer isn’t great, so I went for the graphics settings I can. I usually get around 50+ frames per second, but when driving, I notice a lot of lag. In the first few minutes it works smoothly, but after that it slows down right when I drive. My PC specs are an Intel i3 3250, a GTX 630 graphics card, and 4GB of RAM. I think the memory issue is the main problem, but I’m wondering if there’s a fix without buying more RAM. Thanks.
Check your CPU and GPU temperatures. If the frame rate is stable for a short time but then drops suddenly, it could indicate overheating. It might also point to your CPU, since the game requires a lot of AI processing and a dual-core setup isn't sufficient. Use a tool like CPUID hardware info to examine the temperatures first.
You can look up your CPU temperature settings in the manufacturer's documentation or use system monitoring tools like HWMonitor or Core Temp.
Hey , that shuttering problem is kinda of easy to fix : - Go on nvidia control panel and click on Manage 3D Settings its in the first menu , then click on Program Setting , then find you gtav.exe or what ever its called and add it to the list and from there just turn off all the features considering i don't know if u either have a gt 630m or gt 630 if you do have gt 630 "2 gb" then try changing the ram or your cpu.
I own a GT 630 with a 2 GB RAM and mentioned in the discussion that I’m not planning any upgrades, just looking for possible fixes.
I saw the same issue you're experiencing with GTA V on your dad's computer. When lag appeared, the RAM usage was high—often exceeding 3.8GB—while smooth gameplay kept it under 3GB. The system had 4GB RAM but struggled with a weaker CPU and GPU setup (two single-core Intel Xeon 3GHz CPUs from 2004 plus a 9500GT 1GB). Your PC had a similar GPU but a Celeron G530 2.4GHz and 8GB RAM, which worked fine without the problem. Since you're not planning an upgrade, try identifying memory-heavy processes and freeing up space. I recall there was a version of GTA V that ran better with less RAM—let me know if you remember what it was.
Not enough RAM can cause performance issues; the game struggles to use sufficient data even with 4GB, while 8GB is fully utilized where it's needed.
