Shuts down during gameplay in full screen mode
I just assembled a new machine with a 5600G processor using the integrated graphics. Occasionally, when launching games from Steam, my display shuts down (loses connection). I can restart it by pressing the power button. However, once I return to the game, it powers off again. This doesn’t always occur—restarting the PC lets me play normally. But if I exit the game after an hour and reopen it, the monitor turns off. It keeps doing so in fullscreen until I reboot. In windowed mode it never happens. I’ve tried disconnecting the HDMI cable, but reconnecting it causes crashes in Dota 2. Also, using just one monitor doesn’t fix the issue. I’m really seeking your assistance with this. I’ve been searching all day, but nothing matches my situation. My system details: Fedora Linux 37, 64-bit kernel, 6.0.12, ASUS B550F motherboard, Ryzen 5600G CPU, Kingston Fury 2x16GB at 3200MHz, DeepCool PF700 700W PSU, Crucial Nvme P3 500GB SSD.
When it occurs, press Alt + Enter to switch to windowed mode and see the resolution your game uses. It seems like a setting for fullscreen isn't supported on your monitor. Try adjusting to the correct resolution or frame rate you’re familiar with. You may need to repeat the process if it toggles between fullscreen and windowed.
Hi. Thank you for your feedback. The game runs at 1920x1080 with 60hz, which I’ve used before without issues. I attempted to adjust the settings, but it resets when switching to fullscreen. It seems to work normally at first—after a full session and a restart, the problem reappears. Thanks again.
The temperatures on the system during a crash were elevated, indicating potential overheating issues.
The system remains stable and I can still restart the monitor by pressing the alt key outside the game. Fullscreen mode disrupts the connection immediately. While playing Dota, my CPU temperature reaches around 30°C (about 80°F).
Great, thanks. I'll make sure to try reinstalling them again later.
