Hey there, I’m not the most experienced with my PC, but I’ve got enough knowledge to handle things. Lately I’ve been facing a problem while playing COD—my CPU usage spikes instantly to 100%. Used to record smoothly with OBS, but now recordings are plagued by lag. With a dual monitor, the issue shows up when switching between games. My CPU is nearly a year old; I’m unsure if it’s a bottleneck or if an upgrade is needed since I just upgraded the graphics card. I tried overclocking but got a blue screen, so I went back to the original settings. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Back when MW2019 released my CPU, performance would spike to 100% during launch and then stabilize once you reached the main menu. This wasn't due to my lack of processing power—I can share what I remember. An overclock wouldn't solve it either. I don’t recall finding a specific thread, but there was a known fix. Start with the fundamentals: verify all drivers, ensure your installation is intact, and check for any underlying issues.
Also I saw this on Reddit. I believe that's what I did—I haven't played COD in a while. "Open task manager and go to Processes -> Find Modern Warfare (or whatever COD you're playing) and right click and 'Go to details' -> Find Modernwarfare.exe -> Right click and 'Set Priority -> Normal'.
Hey, this really made a difference for my lag issues during recording and improved the smoothness of my second monitor. Thanks a ton for your help! I wasn’t sure if it was a big deal since I mostly play games, but your support means a lot. Appreciate it!
Great, I'm happy to assist! If the CPU stays at 100% constantly, it might be worth exploring ways to optimize Warzone, though usually it's fine. Background processes can also drain resources. High usage with good responsiveness means you're probably okay.
