Hey there! We've been facing a major problem with our displays lately. For several months now, many of our screens have stopped working properly, and so far, none of the fixes we tried worked permanently. Users report that their displays suddenly turn black or become ghost-like—Windows still thinks they're connected but the screen just disappears. It goes into standby mode and doesn't come back, no matter what we do. The only way to resolve this is by physically unplugging the monitor or notebook or manually reinstalling the graphics driver via Device Manager. Even the shortcut Win + Shift + Ctrl + B doesn’t help.

Our main machines are Lenovo laptops paired with docking stations, but similar issues appear on various Mini-PCs and workstations, using different brands and hardware. It seems this isn't tied to a specific model, cable, or driver version—regardless of GPU, driver updates, or connection type. The only common thread is DisplayPort, though it also shows up with HDMI displays, even though we don’t have many HDMI setups here.

Given the wide range of hardware and driver versions causing this, I suspect a recent Windows update might be responsible. It’s hard to pinpoint exactly which update caused the trouble, but it’s definitely something we’re dealing with. Anyone else experiencing this? Do you know of any solutions that might work? Thanks in advance!

At the company I work for, we use Lenovo laptops (X1, Yoga, T580, T15, T15g, P1, etc.) and Lenovo TB3 docking stations, along with some TB4 docking stations. There are literally thousands of them. The monitors vary a lot—some from Eizo, some from Dell, and a few HP models. We're running Windows 22H2 Build 22621.819, though some still use Windows 10. No problems at all. Just wanted to share what I experience.

Reminds me of a setup issue I've encountered with my own work/monitor configuration. A thin client connected to personal monitors will switch inputs when the monitor loses signal, such as during power-saving modes. If it detects another active input, it stays there in standby mode and must be manually activated again once the TC resumes operation.
