03-22-2020, 09:33 PM #1I bought a used PC recently. Everything looks fine except the screen flickers or stops working suddenly. The only solution is to restart it, but this happens unexpectedly during tasks like browsing or playing games. It doesn’t seem to depend on how much the GPU is being used. I found that touching the cable connecting the PSU to the GPU triggers the problem consistently. This model has a 3070 chipset with a PSU rated for at least 650W, but this one only provides 600W. I’ve tried a different GPU before and it worked fine. I’m wondering if the GPU connector is damaged or if the PSU is the real issue. Any advice would be really helpful!

03-22-2020, 10:10 PM #2The cable or connector appears to have a problem. I would consider replacing the cable first, to determine if that resolves the issue.

03-27-2020, 07:57 PM #3I don’t believe the cable is the problem. The PSU isn’t modular and it had several power sources for the GPU. I’ve tested various cables, but they all faced the same issue.

I purchased another GPU, the exact 3070 model. It seems the same problem persists despite changes. Even with different cables from the PSU, jiggling still causes the display to go off. It’s odd that moving the cable triggers this issue, so maybe the PSU itself is the root cause.
