The new Windows 10 version just came out on my PC. I'm a bit unsure. Can I perform a clean installation? Also, will my Windows 7 activation key be affected? I really need it to work properly.

Consider obtaining the ISO and enabling dual-boot.

I’d wait until it’s officially released before proceeding, then focus on the initial updates that should resolve any configuration problems, especially when upgrading. Your Windows 7 activation should remain active (unless there are OEM restrictions) and you’ll receive a key for Windows 10 as well, allowing a clean installation via the ISO later. You’ll likely see an option to perform a clean install during the transfer from W7 to W10.

You retain your existing key along with a Win10 key, and it's an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) product.

Although using an OEM key might not function on another motherboard, just note that some users have encountered issues when installing them on new hard drives—these keys can be quite particular.

YES! All I can say is YES! Though the preview isn't enjoying GTA V, I'm really enjoying it.

It shouldn't be an issue. Just dial the number for "activate windows." The representative will provide you with a unique code, which will update your OEM. Make sure it's not assigned to another device. If it is, it will remain unactivated on that system. You're free to change OEMs whenever you like.

Windows 10 is scheduled for release on July 29. Right now you have the chance to secure your copy. This means a few days before the actual launch, your device will automatically download the latest version of Windows 10 at its own pace, ensuring it’s fully installed by July 29th. The approach helps prevent server overload by spreading the installation across time, so everyone can upgrade simultaneously without causing delays. You might choose to perform a clean install of your current Windows and switch to Windows 10. Regarding a clean install, I’m open to the idea since I’m eligible as a Windows Insider. However, I’m unsure how this affects users who opt for an upgrade—especially whether they can retain their existing keys. We don’t have clear details on what happens to Windows 7 keys after the transition. Typically, they stay valid, but per the licensing terms, you can’t resell or transfer them. It’s likely that your original Windows 7 key will be converted into a Windows 10 key, or remain linked to the previous version. My thought is it’s probably safe, but we don’t know for certain.

Windows 10 often freezes or stops working in most games, especially after I installed it yesterday. It seems the drivers need an update.
