Check if your current PSU is sufficient for the upgrade or if you need to replace it.

Your 2500T features a 45w TDP processor, while the 2700K has a 65w TDP. The distinction might not matter much unless you plan to overclock. The majority of your power consumption will come from the GTX960 graphics card, which remains unchanged. If your power supply unit is outdated or low quality, it may be wise to look into a replacement.

When dealing with an OEM PC, ensure the 2700k model appears on the support list.

I lack sufficient understanding of overclocking, so I won’t attempt it. I’ll check my PSU’s condition instead.

If your PSU is outdated and not very reliable (cheap), you should consider upgrading it to a safer option.
You can upgrade to the i7 2700K
