I'm evaluating whether to upgrade from your current AMD Ryzen 5 5600X to the Ryzen 7 5700X3D. Your gaming setup includes Valorant, Hearts of Iron 4, and Call of Duty at various resolutions. You aim for 1440p by February 2025 and are considering upgrades for your memory (currently 2400MHz) and power supply (RM650x). The new components would be a GTX 3060 12GB, a 3600MHz memory option, and an upgraded case. It's worth assessing the benefits against your needs.

If your goal is to push GPU usage in February 2025, upgrading the CPU isn't really necessary. The 5700x3d can only raise FPS by about 20% when the game is fully dependent on the CPU. That's significant, but you're already achieving 300 FPS in Valorant with those configurations. For the RTX 5060 with 8GB memory, it's not a clear upgrade path—especially since the 12GB model might arrive later. I’d recommend sticking with AMD or planning for a more expensive option like the 5070 if you want higher memory. It’s interesting you’re playing those titles at low settings; try boosting them to see the impact.

I mostly compete in Valorant at 1080p Low to achieve the best FPS possible for an esports game. In February 2025 I intend to switch to 1440p so other titles display better, and I’ve experimented with this setting at school during esports sessions. Someone also mentioned that Hearts of Iron 4 performs better in the late stages with increased L3 cache, though I’m not certain. I won’t upgrade my GPU until the 60xx or 70xx models are released.

The 5700X3D enhances your 1% and 0.1% lows, resulting in significantly smoother gameplay, particularly during intense shootout scenarios.

because it's mostly FPS titles, you'll notice better performance. Adjust your existing RAM to 3200 or 3800 based on your CPU model. Use a thaiphoon burner image to check your motherboard—if it shows only 3200 or lower, it might be a low-end chipmaker offering only 3200 or less. Try setting it to 4.7/4.8 at 1.3GHz.
