Should I upgrade CPU or GPU

I need to improve my computer but can only upgrade one part at a time. I mainly play CS:GO with a 580 and a Ryzen 2600. Counterstrike is quite demanding on the CPU, so I'm unsure which component to focus on. Right now I'm getting about 140 FPS at 1600x900 and would love to reach 200+.

You can reach 200 fps easily. I achieved 180 to 200 fps in CS:GO at high 1080p using an overclocked FX-8370 and an RX 480. Based on any estimate, 2600 should easily surpass the piledriver.

Your settings should now perform more efficiently. Still, a 3600 might only improve single-core speed by about 10-15%, which could only raise FPS by a small amount. Upgrading the rig overall would be a better choice to obtain a stronger GPU such as a 5700 (non-XT) or an XT if you have enough budget. And if you sell the 2600, you could recover at least half its value from the 3600.

Do you actually want the RX 580, or is it the GTX 580? It's not worth it to boost FPS on a 60Hz screen. You won't gain any performance, just a sense of pride if you can.
