Should I switch off my Power Unit once the PC has shut down?
Hi, do you need the power unit to be off after shutting down the PC? I faced some unusual issues recently. When I turned on my PC and it didn’t respond, I checked the power button on the case, but nothing changed. After several attempts, I tried setting the power unit to off/on mode, and then the PC started working again. This happened before, but not for many years now. My system parts are still in good condition, all from reputable manufacturers. I didn’t mention that my PC is connected to a UPS, which seems to be functioning properly. Should I turn off the power unit at night to protect against voltage spikes?
Not usually, but running on Windows 10 might harm the operating system.
What is the make and model of this PSU? How long has it been in use?
I'm using Windows 10 Pro with the latest version, and my PSU is a Cougar CMX 850W. I purchased it in 2018.
I didn't experience any issues with my OS even after applying all the newest updates.
they come with a 3 year warranty. It might be the reason. It could be due to wear and age... since it's now 5 years old.
You don't necessarily need to power it off or on to get it working.
Is this Windows 10? Do you have fast startup enabled? If you use an SSD, that might not help.

But I doubt it would prevent the PC from starting altogether.
Watch the PC closely and see if this happens again—maybe it was an isolated incident.
Long before I had a functioning brain or used reliable PSUs, I faced the same problem every year and a half. It was due to the poor quality of the PSUs I was using. As soon as I replaced them with better ones, the issue disappeared. After switching to a good quality PSU, it became a thing of the past, until after the warranty ended.
