I purchased the Dark Souls Prepare to Die edition a few years back and began playing it recently. I'm currently aiming for Orinstein and Smough, battling guards near the fog gate. Suddenly, I was attacked—every NPC in the area was killed. The blacksmith, Solair, Sigfried, and then the killer took my life. It seems connected to the boss fight, though I don't know if it's the same encounter. After the fight, a woman appeared but wasn't visible. I'm around level 66 now, stuck mostly in the Tarus demon save file. The biggest problem with that file was Blighttown; I didn’t face FPS issues there, but I really disliked it. Should I keep going?
Did you receive the lordvessel? If not, look in the chest at firelink behind frampt. You can keep going if you have it; otherwise, you might try using cheat engine to obtain it, or else you're locked out. If you're worried about being targeted by more hackers, consider using DSFIX's save backups or manual copies. I haven't used it myself, so I can't assist with that.
I cut off when things get invaded, but I stay online most of the time to call for help. Regarding the lord vessel, the scene felt typical except for not being able to see the giant woman. The ship went to framept just fine. I’ve already navigated through the Duke’s Archives. I’m furious that Siegmyer and Solair were wiped out.
Combine these tools: DSFix, PVP Watchdog, and the Connectivity Mod. The PVP watchdog and Connectivity features are especially useful for avoiding security issues. If you haven’t completed the game and unlocked NG+, things can quickly go wrong. You’ll need to reload a previous save or restart from scratch to restore NPCs.
NG+ refers to a game mode or progression path. I reached the New Londo ruins, opened the gates to drain it, and since then I haven't faced a boss except for the scaleless dragon, which I lost. That led me to Duke's archives, but I’m not sure the game is over. I’m puzzled about why the giant lady in Anor Londo never showed up. I just asked her, “You’ll perish in the twilight of Anor Londo,” and she handed me the Lord Vessel.
NG+ is an updated title. The challenges increase steadily, and it seems you're heading in the right direction. Keep exploring the archives. It appears the hacker eliminated the main character after defeating O&S, which happens when you kill that specific NPC. I haven't played recently, so I'm not fully familiar with all the finer points.
It's puzzling how he ended up with her! I wasn't even victorious over the boss yet! Plus, I managed to reach the crystal caves, but I thought about leaving and headed to New Londo, laughing.
