Hi,
My Rtx 3080 Waterforce has been in its box for over eight years. Should I replace the thermal paste before using it again? It seems simpler to do it beforehand rather than later, and definitely better not to have to do it at all!
Please let me know.
TIA

wouldn't take any action prior to the initial test, otherwise you wouldn't be able to confirm whether an issue exists, whether it occurred before or after the restaging.

The actual issue is: why purchase a card and keep it unused in the box for years?

Since I purchased it before retirement with ample funds but limited time, now I can invest it.

Due to the unusual price fluctuations of video cards, he might have sold it for nearly the amount he spent, unless he bought at discounted rates during the pandemic. The card cannot be eight years old if it's a 3080, as the first ones were released in September 2020.

Repasting is useless unless you realize your processor is dangerously hot and likely needs thermal paste. Otherwise, you might only reduce the temperature by a few degrees at most, or worse, create more problems than you fixed.
