Hey guys.
I had a 7600k and Z270 yesterday and started overclocking since morning.
I discovered a stable unit running at 5.1GHz @1.35V and [email protected] with AVX-4.
The temperatures are very stable at that frequency in non-AVX tests. In small FFT(constant) or IBT(spikes) mode, one core exceeds 90*. If I try a more lenient AVX (like AIDA with 1344 FFT size), only that core occasionally spikes above 80*, while the others perform well.
I might reduce the AVX further if the small FFTs become problematic, but I avoid anything heavily using AVX and even then it’s not very demanding.
I also tried pushing to 5.2GHz and up to 1.4V, but I get BSOD during stress tests. I’m considering a CPU die removal, though I’m unsure if temperature is the main concern.
Honestly, I’m not thrilled about running at 1.4+ continuously.
Do you think it’s worth removing the CPU to improve temperatures in those AVX tests?
Maybe one day I’ll remove it just to get cooler temps during those AVX runs.
PS: Is 5.1 @1.35 even a silver standard? I’m usually not lucky with lotteries, but I was hoping this one could be good.

Delid isn't necessary just to jump from 5.1 to 5.2ghz (the difference isn't huge, I'm aware overclocking can be tempting)
😛
).
What cooler are you using, just for fun?

What cooler do you have? Just for fun.
Arctic Liquid Freezer 240. But I'm using 2 Cougar Vortex push and 2 Arctic pull since the radiator is at the front and I wanted all the fans in the front to match. I've been considering taking the fans out, swapping them for the stock ones, and buying another Arctic to improve the look. The Arctic definitely pushes more than the Cougar, no doubt.
