So the HTC Vive is £598.98 instead of £758.98. My brother just suggested we split the cost and buy one ( so £299.48 each ) Would you say it's worth it or wait for the 2nd generation?

It's unclear, but some believe the price reduction might signal a future update. If you view it as a chance, go for it.

rift offers a more affordable option and includes their own special controllers. Make sure your device meets sufficient requirements—when the Oculus Rift was released, they suggested using a GTX 970 or higher.

5820k paired with a 1080ti offers solid performance from a technical standpoint.

It all comes down to your spending habits and what you value most. For me, I’d hold off unless I could upgrade to better graphics cards or a 4K IPS screen. The latest generation of GPUs (2018/19) and a high-resolution display seem like the next logical steps.

Your 1080 Ti should last a while. Your X34A (3440x1440 at 100Hz IPS) is also working well, and you're feeling confident about it being a good investment. You've been considering this for a while, so you're in a solid position.

I was talking about myself; I’d prefer a fun 4K experience instead of VR. If you believe you’ll get value from it but won’t return after a while, go ahead!

Do you have programs or games ready to use? Are you financially able to support this? Do you possess the necessary space and time? If yes to all these points, I’d suggest moving forward—I’m aiming to invest in a Fallout 4 port if it turns out well. It feels a bit less immersive without seeing your hands, but mods might help fix that.
