You're just starting with Windows 8.1 Pro and haven't had much time to settle in. After trying various solutions, the issue still persists. The blank page appears only with shortcuts on the desktop, not with the main executable. It seems the problem is specific to those shortcuts. Have you checked if the .exe file is corrupted or if there are any system updates that might help?

It might be a virus; run a scan with Malwarebytes.

Running a malware scan now, I’ll also check with adwcleaner. Are you both convinced this might be a virus? I’ve been very cautious about installing programs and opening .exe files, and I haven’t encountered a virus in a long time. Over the past 48 hours I’ve installed many programs, so...
