When specific crates cease dropping after a certain period, all the series 1 crates stopped in 2012, yet many remain available.

It seems like you're questioning the value of the 1 series crates compared to newer ones. Also, it looks like you're responding to Mogar with a friendly tone.

The No. 1 series crate is considered a rare find. If you own any from the 2012 drops, you can resell them for a good return. Avoid opening them—they usually yield minimal value due to their age. Updated note: The Series #1 crate is currently valued at around 1.61 USD on the Steam marketplace, roughly 57 times more valuable than standard crates.

Some of the old crates such as the old summer creates are now "unopenable".

Yes, some collectors gather items for various reasons. I've noticed individuals acquiring 400 Bisons mainly due to the Bison Master Race theme, but people collect for many other reasons. Early crates are popular because they're old and valuable. Imagine owning one of every crate—it sounds tempting to some. Certain crates might also contain unusual or valuable objects, such as a peculiar Caber. The Kritzkrieg used to be very costly, but a recent crate brought it down in price.
