It seems these games often freeze briefly whenever they save automatically or when you enter new areas. This problem appears in multiple titles, including Hitman 2 and Batman: Arkham Origins. I’ve never experienced this before and previously played both games without issues. My system meets all necessary requirements, I’m using the newest Nvidia drivers and an updated Windows version. There are no disk errors or fragmentation on the HDD where the games are installed. I even reinstalled the drivers manually, as some recommend against it. What’s causing this?

Certainly games often aim to pause during save operations, though that's not what I understand. HDD speeds tend to decline over time, which seems to be the reason. I've noticed a drop in HDD performance after about three years of use. According to HWInfo, the usage indicator is now at 19%, and it's taking much longer to load Dota 2 compared to before.
