Shitty internet solution
Shitty internet solution
Hey, I’m not super experienced with networks, but I’ve got a bit of knowledge. Right now I’m in the lower level of my apartment, which has everything set up nicely. The internet comes straight from the landlord above. It goes through a fiber connection to them, then switches to Wi-Fi at a wireless transmitter on my floor across a wall—can’t reach it directly. From there, we get our own Wi-Fi, which is pretty weak. There’s another connection from the landlord’s router via their Wi-Fi to a repeater in my living room, and I’ve connected my PC to that. Overall, it’s not great—I sometimes see strong signals, but there’s a lot of packet loss and issues. They claim they checked other cable runs, but it seems like they can’t get a direct connection from theirs. What should I do? Honestly, I might have to move if this continues.
Check availability of Powerline adapters as a potential solution.
