Hey there, I understand your concern. Yes, you can definitely transfer your Steam/Origin/Uplay files to an external hard drive. Since your local connection is slow, using a faster one at your friend's place will speed things up. Just connect the external drive to his PC, log in, download all your games, and then transfer them there. Once you have the files on the external drive, you can add them to your library on your home PC. It’s a bit of a process, but it should work if you follow the steps carefully. Let me know if you need more details!

Navigate to your current C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common directory, and duplicate all the game folders you wish to transfer to an external hard drive. After that, when reinstalling the games—whether on a new machine or during a fresh setup—install Steam. Move the game folders from your external drive to the newly created and empty SteamApps/common folder. Open Steam, and attempt to install a game from your library; it will recognize local files and fetch any missing items. You should be ready to proceed. For a more thorough guide, check Steam forums where users discuss similar steps.

Note: I ignored my earlier instructions and corrected the approach you should follow.

Get the games onto a friend's PC, move them to an external hard drive, and then transfer them to your own machine.
